This feature is exclusive to Legacy Console Edition.

The Legacy Console Edition Tutorial is a world that introduces the player to the basic mechanics of Minecraft. It allows newcomers to familiarize themselves with the game, primarily with the controls and the crafting system. Available only in the Legacy Console Edition, the world and presentation differ depending on the version of the game it was created in, however the basic tutorial mechanics remain the same. All versions begin the player in a small enclosed area where building, crafting, mining, and survival mechanics are introduced. All versions of the tutorial world contain 12 hidden chests with a music disc that the player can search for.

Concepts covered[edit]

The tutorial walks the player through:

  • Chopping wood
  • Game controls
  • Creating planks and a crafting table
  • Inventory use
  • Creating basic tools
  • Using a furnace
  • Building a shelter
  • Surviving the night
  • Hunger/Health

Other tutorials for features such as beds, Nether portals, trading, boats, pistons, and fishing rods are scattered throughout the world, but are not part of the main tutorial.

Tutorial area[edit]

This section needs to be updated.
Please update this section to reflect recent updates or newly available information.
The Minecraft logo as it used to appear in the tutorial. (TU7-TU11)
  • The tutorial world depends on the version of the game that it is created in.
    • The tutorial world on Xbox One Edition and Nintendo Switch Edition introduces features added in TU46, such as the Elytra. Since these two editions do not yet have the Update Aquatic, they currently use an older version of the tutorial world than the other Legacy Console Editions.
    • The tutorial world on Xbox 360 Edition, PlayStation 3 Edition, PlayStation Vita Edition, PlayStation 4 Edition, and Wii U Edition introduces Update Aquatic features added in TU69.
  • The first tutorial area was a flat plain with sparsely growing grass and flowers. There was a lake with a chest containing 17 fishing rods. There was also a river with a chest containing 9 boats.
    • A pond lined with sand can be found in the field. Near this pond was a cobblestone wall with a redstone/piston demonstration area. Opposite is an incomplete miner's shelter, which the player is tasked to complete during the tutorial. This shelter was surrounded by gravel, which has a path leading to the exit. Through this exit was a village or a castle (TU7-TU11).
  • The most recent Update Aquatic tutorial world has a very incomplete bridge over water that leads to a path with more activities.
  • There is a closed off area behind the Update Aquatic tutorial world spawn that leads to part of the TU46 tutorial world.
    • More of the TU46 tutorial world can be found in the ice biome near the stone sheep statue, now flooded and partially destroyed. The diamond block pyramid used for the beacon can still be found there.
